More spinning and lifting this week. I had a weird experience at the gym though, I asked to guys who were just finishing up the hip extension machine if they were through and the said "yes", and then "Should we take some weight off for you?" (there was about 180 lbs on). I said "no thanks" and proceeded to add another 180 lbs. I guess they thought I was a frail old man or something. The look on their faces was priceless when I added the weight though.

I did "muscle breakdown" on Saturday. The 4sec accelerations really gave me some trouble. I was doing about 300 watts each time and my legs were dead after a minute of the 5 minute set. I had to shut the video off and rest for a minute or 2 and the start up again not pushing quite so hard. I'm not sure if this is just inherent weakness or not recovering from lifting thursday. I went on to finish, but was pretty tired at the end, which has become the norm this year after these videos. I wound up with 426 watts for the power sprints at the end.

Saturday - Spinervals video "Time Trial". I was really spent after this workout. I averaged 120watts and 137bpm, which is somewhat lame, but I was doing the best I could. I finally wimped out on the last 10 second sprint ladder at the end, my legs just quit. Max HR was 161. Sunday, I did a long tempo on the mag trainer at around 120 bpm.

2 easy trainer rides this week plus weightlifting on Tuesday and Thursday. I'm starting to bump the weight up on most of the exercises(350 on the hip extension). I'll do another spinervals video Saturday, maybe Time Trial. I need to start taking my Glucosamine again.

Quite a lot of riding since my last entry. I rode a few times indoors, just spinning and outdoors for New years day, then did Sufer-o-rama spinervals workout yesterday. The New Year's ride was warm, so the ride heated up pretty good and we split up right away. I pulled the first 10 miles, then just covered all of the moves until the end when I finished 2nd in a 3 up sprint. The spinervals workout was hard, coming so soon after the the New year's ride and a weight session on Friday. I did the whole workout (I wanted to quit), but was down about 10 watts and 10 bpm from previous workouts of this tape. I was completely spent at the end and only managed 304 watts in the sprints at the end, wheras I was able to do over 400 watts last year. I'm thinking that I was not completely recovered from the New Year's ride. I managed to continue 2-a-week weight sessions thru the holidays and am probably ready to increase the weights and go to fewer reps.
