I did the night ride last night. (the last one of the year for me). It was cold to start, but I warmed up pretty quickly and hung in until the hills(I couldn't breath on the hills because of my allergies). Craig waited for me a couple of times. Fred was sick.

Terrific ride Saturday. I did the hill route with Craig, Keith et al. I was able to hang pretty well since they weren't going real hard. 40 miles on probably the last outdoor ride for awhile since it snowed this morning.

I rode with Fred again Wednesday night. Very relaxing. I lifted Friday morning and am doing a fifty miler Saturday(tomorrow). It's still pretty warm, so I can't take time off yet.

Well.... I'm sore from lifting yesterday, even though I did pretty light weights(140 on the leg press). I'm doing the night ride tonight. I don't know how I will feel though.

I did the Monday night ride. I took it easy and rode with Fred at around 17. Fred attacked the group! Whoa! Tuesday morning I lifted before work. So it begins again. This is really the beginning of the next season.

The ride Friday night was fairly mild at 18mph, so I rode Sunday with a large group of racers and ex-racers. We did a 50 mile loop and the pace was fast but not obnoxious and I hung in until around 45 miles when my legs started getting rubbery ( I haven't been doing any longer rides for awhile). The weather is warm again, so I'll ride tonight since this weather will turn for good pretty soon. I really need to stop for a couple of weeks as soon as the weather turns.

The winds have died down, so I'll do the night ride tonight. Hope I'm not too slow to keep up!

Well, I wimped out on riding the night ride on Wednesday because of 30mph winds(some guys did ride). I rode the trainer instead (15 miles) and then the trainer again Thursday (15 miles). I'm slowly wasting away my fitness, which is actually ok for this time of year. I really should shut down completely for 2 weeks, but if I do I will likely miss my 6000 mile goal. Waht to do?

The weather has turned against us finally. Cold and windy (not to mention dark). Time to dust off the trainer. I popped the Vuelta tape into the machine and warmed up for 15 minutes, then did a steady tempo at 17+mph, 130 watts and 125 bpm for 45 minutes. Not a great workout, but a good first trainer workout and one that showed I still have some fitness left. I plan to do more one legged workouts and time trials this year to build my leg strength.

First entry. It's time to take a break from riding, but the weather here in Ohio has just been too great. Need to get into the weight room and stop riding to let my legs and brain recover and prepare a plan for next year. I lost a lot of speed this year as I turned 61. I'm not sure if it's age or returning to work after a couple of years off. Anyway, I'm doing 2 or 3 night rides a week as long as the temperature stays above 35, but I don't have the will to push very hard this time of year. Hopefully the pace will slow down when it gets cold.
